Sunflower Circle
Parents speak. We listen.
Sunflower Circle is a parent town hall for every class, led by our Principals. You bring the questions, ideas and concerns. We bring our full attention.
A meeting where the Principal listens
Sunflower Circle is where parents and school leadership sit down together, in one room, with time to talk. Every class has its own session, hosted by the Division Principal and your child's class teacher.
School updates stay short. Most of the time belongs to you: questions, suggestions, worries and good news. You also get to meet other parents in your child's class and find out how much you have in common.
A circle has no head and no foot. The Principal and the teacher sit among parents, not in front of them.
Four ways to be heard
Sessions are held in English, and we know that speaking up in a second language is not easy for everyone. Choose whichever way feels right. You can use a different one each time.
Speak in English
Join the open conversation. Every attempt is welcome, and it is a friendly place to practice. Nobody is ever corrected or rushed.
Write your question
Pen and paper are on every table. Write in English or Thai. Your note is read aloud to the room, and you do not have to put your name on it.
Send it ahead of time
Ask through ALMA SIS, or tell the Principal or your class teacher directly. This gives us time to find the facts and prepare a proper answer. You can stay anonymous.
Ask in Thai
A Thai-speaking member of our staff is at every session as an interpreter. They can read your Thai notes aloud in English and help you in conversation.
What happens at a session
Each session is relaxed and conversational. It is never a lecture or a slideshow.
Short updates
Highlights from the school and your child's class.
Open forum
The longest part. You speak, we listen.
Meet other parents
Time to talk with families from your class.
Refreshments
We always provide light refreshments.
When, where and who
Sessions are held in the morning or the afternoon, whichever suits the class. Families get notice two to three weeks ahead through ALMA SIS and the school notice board.

Why sunflowers?
Every year from November to January, the fields around Khao Jeen Lae turn gold. Sunflowers grow side by side and turn toward the same light. That is how we think about school and home: many families, facing the same way, toward what is best for each child.
Our first circles of the year open as the sunflowers do.
Have a question for the next circle?
Send it through ALMA SIS, or tell your Principal or class teacher. You can ask without giving your name.
